Galatians, Galatians!

“Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary. Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one. Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”
-Galatians 3:19-29

The Law was ADDED, not always existent. The Law was TEMPORARY, added because of sin and until Jesus came. The Law prior to Jesus was meant as a guardian to keep hold on us until it was time for Jesus at which time faith would be enacted and law would be done with. This scripture clearly and definitively expresses an after-Law time indicated and initiated or culminated by the coming of Jesus. Like it or don’t, but it is clear.

  1. The argument regarding Law and Grace is more a matter of what our trust is in to save our souls: the keeping of commandments (our works) or by his grace (Christ Work).
God sent Jesus to fulfill the Law…but he did not do away with this righteous standard of perfection…he simply fulfilled it in our stead, so we would not be condemned by it. Now we are free to live righteously unto God, keeping his commandments without fear that our inability might condemn us…yet we have a standard to live by still…it just isn’t what saves us.
However, Paul did speak to matters of the sabbath in his epistles about regarding some days above others or every day the same…sabbaths and new moons, etc. Also, it is clear from scripture that the church assembled and worshipped on the Lord’s day in cases, so that is also a valid point with regard to seventh day observance.
Let us also not forget that when, in the book of acts, the matter of what to keep and not keep for gentiles was discussed, the Church of Jewish believers in Jerusalem did not lay anything on the gentile believers except to abstain from fornication and eating blood….certainly there are other matters relayed to gentiles in the epistles of Paul and Peter and John that refined these commands, but given a perfect opportunity to instruct gentiles to be sure they kept the seventh day sabbath, none of them ever mentioned it, though they did reaffirm the rest of the ten commandments in their writings many times.
just some things to consider before we judge one another as God’s servants.

    • One of the most important aspects of 119 Ministries, Church of God splinters, JW, and HRM; the people who are getting involved with what many deem to be ‘cults’ are lost in what is no more than mind control driven practices by those promoting it. False prophet warnings aside; I have been doing extensive research because of a family member getting lost in all of this. I was appalled by the presentation of much of COG/119 Ministries materials, online courses, and the time required of an individual/their children until I started looking at the ‘how’ versus the content. The so called bible studies include select bible verses from the Old Testament taught by misrepresentation and literally, misinterpretations and are taught with much interjection by people with an agenda. Sadly, when someone is weak because their feel lost in their faith or lost in this world for any reason; they easily succumb to these types of mind control tactics. On what I have researched with their New Testament teachings; there are many omissions, which thankfully are discussed on this website because in order to help bring people to Christ or back to Christ, we need to help people understand both the old and new testaments. We need to pray for people who are lost in false teachings of God and Christ and do the best we can to help bring them back to Christ in the spirit of Christ. We have to be educators of Christ. We need to be humble in doing so and do so without judgment, Peace

  2. Rev 14:12
12 Here is the patience of the saints:here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

    Rev 12:17
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

    Rev 22:14
14 Blessed are those who do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

    Mat 5:17-20
17 “Don ‘t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’ t come to destroy, but to fulfill. 18 For most assuredly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter {literally, iota Rev 14:12
12 Here is the patience of the saints:here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.}or one tiny pen stroke {or, serif }shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. 19 Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Show me one verse where Jesus says the law will be done away with before his

one where it says that we should not teach it…

One where it says it is sin to teach the law…

one where it says that to do what the law says is sin…

just four specific places would be helpful.

    No interpretation should be necessary.
